Sean O’Regan joins CADA Executive Committee
November 9th, 2020
Sean O’Regan, President and CEO of O’Regan’s Automotive Group in Dartmouth, N.S., joined the CADA Executive Committee on October 28 when his nomination for Secretary-Treasurer was confirmed in a Board of Directors meeting via Zoom.
In response to questions from CADA Newsline, O’Regan said he was honoured to be chosen and thought of as a suitable candidate to represent both the dealers and the auto retail industry in Canada.
“The speed of change in the industry has been increasing over the last five to 10 years and has shifted into an even higher gear in the past few months,” said O’Regan. “My job is to ensure that the dealership and franchise model evolves so that it continues to be equitable for all dealers going forward.”
O’Regan, who owns and operates vehicle franchises under numerous OEM brand names in Nova Scotia, in addition to six used car centres, has deep roots in the automotive industry. His family has been involved in the business since 1915, when O’Regan’s grandfather operated a number of automobile franchises through to the mid-1950’s.
Furthermore, community involvement has always been a big part of his life and his family’s life. O’Regan said community involvement has given him great insight into the role we can all take in making our communities stronger.
“It is hard to be a success in a failed world and it is hard to be a successful business in a failed community. Community and business are a symbiotic relationship,” said O’Regan. “It behooves us all, as business owners and individuals, to invest in our community and to remember that when our community struggles, we struggle, but when our community thrives, we thrive.”
O’Regan graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1992. He joined O’Regan’s Automotive Group as a sales and leasing consultant, was promoted to successively more senior roles in the organization in the years to follow, and in 2008 became the President and CEO.
In 2013, Sean received the CADA Laureate Award for Business Innovation. He is a Past President of the Halifax Dartmouth Automobile Dealers Association, director of the Nova Scotia Automobile Dealers Association, and has served on several boards for the manufacturers he represented over the years.
O’Regan’s is also a two-time winner of the Corporate Philanthropist of the Year Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and has been voted the Consumer Choice Award Winner for New and Pre-Owned Dealer for Halifax for the past decade.
When asked what dealers can anticipate from him in his new role, O’Regan said they can expect “someone who is very passionate about the industry, is approachable, and will listen to dealer input.”
